With each free web hosting account, you will have access to FTP. FTP stands for "File Transfer Protocol" and is the best choice to use for managing your website files.

To begin with you will need an FTP client, I use FileZilla which is free open source and easy to use.

Once downloaded, install and open FileZilla. It looks like the image FileZilla in Right hand side.

In order to connect to FTP, you will need the following information (also included in your registration email):

  • Your website address (infosansar.net46.net - without any www. or http)
  • Username (This is slightly different for FTP, it is your username plus an "@" sign, so: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it )
  • Password

Now simply enter in your details into the top connection panel, followed by entering in port 21 like the image Quick connect in the right hand side.

And then hit "Quick Connect", if you have entered in your details correctly, you should be connected.

Now simply upload the files from your hard-drive to FTP. To do so use the left panels to browse through your files, for example I want to upload test.txt which  is located on my desktop. I right click it and then select "Uplaod".

The file will now be uploaded to your site, e.g. infosansar.net46.net/test.txt

You may also create new folders, to do so simply right click in the right panel like in the fig.

You can also change file permission by clicking and selecting "File Attributes".
