No vehicular movement along Muglin-Narayangadh road at night from July 9

The under-maintenance section of Narayanghat-Mugling road is set to be closed at night from Sunday, July 9.

The local administration of the district took the decision in all-party meeting on Thursday as per the direction of the Development Committee under Legislature-Parliament to avoid the increasing death tally due to landslides and debris during night.

According to the Chief District Officer of Chitwan, Narayan Prasad Bhatta, the vehicles from Kathmandu and Pokhara traveling towards Chitwan should pass Mugling by 5 pm in the evening. The vehicle

“Three Rapid Response Team (RRT) have been deployed along the road section to make travel smooth during the day time,” said SP Deepak Thapa at the Chitwan District Police Office adding “The team would be mobilised 24 hours.”

Similarly, the vehicles that try to overtake aill be impounded and driver will face action, added SP Thapa.

Meanwhile, 44 households at high risk of landslide in the area would be translocated to some safe place temporarily.

The Development Committee of the Legislature Parliament on Tuesday issued instructions to ban transportation along the landslide prone Narayangadh – Muglin road stretch for one and a half months during night time.
